Radon knowledge refers to the person's ability to select the correct definition of radon from a list. The definitions offered were as follows: Radon is: 1) a gas that comes from natural gas in furnaces and water heaters; 2) a gas that comes from the ground and causes lung cancer; 3) a gas that comes from carpets, furniture and paints; or 4) a gas found in air conditioners and refrigerators.

Person refers to an individual and is the unit of analysis for most social statistics programs.
