Employee refers to persons who worked for others in the context of an employer-employee relationship. It includes persons who worked for wages, salaries, commissions, tips, piece-rates, or payments 'in kind' (payments in goods or services rather than money). However, it does not include working owners of incorporated businesses even though they may receive wages, salaries, commissions, tips, piece-rates, or payments 'in kind' (payments in goods or services rather than money).

Location refers to the lowest level of the Business Register statistical hierarchy. The location, as a statistical unit, is defined as a production unit at a single geographical location at which or from which economic activity is conducted and for which, at a minimum, employment data are available.
