Adult supervision program of correctional services, category

Adult supervision program refers to programs, managed by the federal and provincial/territorial correctional system, to supervise persons (aged 18 and over) in custody or in the community. Custodial supervision includes sentenced custody, remand and other temporary detention for persons who are legally required to be at a facility. Community supervision includes probation, conditional sentences and parole.

Correctional services refers to a program with two main goals:

1. To ensure community safety by detaining or otherwise managing those who may have harmed other people's interests.

2. To help offenders safely and successfully reintegrate into the community.

These programs consist of custodial services (e.g. sentenced custody and remand) and community supervision services (e.g. probation and parole).
