Volatile organic compound measure refers to a measure of the concentration of 88 volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in residential air, water or organic substance, that are common around the home such as paints, cigarette smoke, building materials and vehicle emissions. Some VOCs are known to be toxic in very high concentration but a direct link to health problems has yet to be confirmed.

Person refers to an individual and is the unit of analysis for most social statistics programs.
