Volunteering activity refers to activities, in a specified time period, which is not remunerated and is performed on behalf of groups or organizations. This includes, for example, unpaid help to schools, religious organizations, sports or community associations.

Person refers to an individual and is the unit of analysis for most social statistics programs.
