Jordan limit of case, category

Jordan limit refers to the presumptive limits set out in the 2016 Supreme Court of Canada's R. v. Jordan decision, beyond which delays are considered unreasonable. Time limits for the completion of criminal cases are set out as follows: 18 months for cases tried in provincial court; and 30 months for cases tried in superior court or in provincial court following a preliminary inquiry.

Case refers to one or more charges against an accused person or company, which were processed by the courts at the same time (date of offence, date of initiation, date of first appearance, date of decision/sentencing), and received a final decision.
