Intensity of production of institutional sector, measure

Intensity of production refers to a measure of direct plus indirect energy use or greenhouse gas emission per thousand dollars of production. Direct energy use and emissions are those associated with the industry's own production; indirect energy use and emissions are those associated with the production of the goods and services that are used by the industry.

Institutional sector refers to a grouping of institutional units on the basis of their principal functions, behaviour and objectives.

The data for this variable are reported using the following measurements:

  • Gigajoules per dollar
  • Tons per dollar
