Hourly earnings including overtime refers to the gross dollar value an employee's taxable payroll, including pay for overtime, expressed as an hourly rate. This amount reflects all hours worked and includes paid absences (e.g., holidays, vacation, and sick leave or jury duty).

Employee refers to any person receiving pay for services rendered in Canada or for an employer paid absence, and for whom the employer is required to complete a Canada Revenue Agency T4 slip. These persons may work on a full-time, part-time, casual or temporary basis.
