Adult status refers to whether a person is an adult or a child.

In the context of the Survey of Residential Facilities for Victims of Abuse, adults are usually defined as 18 years of age or older, although some jurisdictions include those aged 16 or 17 years of age with or without children or may define adults as 19 years of age or older. Children are usually defined as under the age of 18 years accompanying their parent, they also include adult children accompanying a parent or caregiver, such as adult children with disabilities and those who are caretakers of a parent experiencing abuse.
