Air transportation sector of airport, category

Air transportation sector refers to whether people or material are being transported within the Canada or to another country. Categories are based each flight segment according to the next stop (for departures) and the last stop (for arrivals) of the aircraft. For example, consider a flight with a routing of Vancouver-Edmonton-Amsterdam. The departure of the flight from Vancouver would be considered domestic, as would the arrival at Edmonton. The departure of the flight from Edmonton for Amsterdam would be considered as other international since the next stop of the aircraft is a foreign point.

Airport refers to a place from which aircrafts operate that usually has paved runways and maintenance facilities and often serves as terminal. This is the location where flights depart or arrive.
